Awww, they all look so adorable and healthy! Your little Barred Rock is so chubby looking. You must have gotten the "extra fluffy" BR! LOL
And now the fun begins. Have you picked out names for them all yet? I love the chicks that have chipmunk stripes. I'm curious to hear how the Sussex turn out for you personality-wise. I think they're pretty chickens but I wonder if they are friendly too. I hope you plan to post updates!
the babies are so cute! I got 3 silver laced wyandottes and I am excited to see what they look like when they get bigger!! I am hoping 1 is a rooster cause I ordered 2 hens!!!

One of the SS (Little Feather, the one in the picture) is really friendly and comes right up to me when I open the brooder door. The other one is very stand-offish and screams bloody murder when I pick her up!
Speaking of extra fluffy, the EE in the first pic (Puff) is the biggest one of my chicks and is a big bully, pushing everyone else around. As a group, the RIRs are the friendliest and most curious. The RIR names are Lil Red, Rose and Scatter.
I'm going to take more pics tomorrow and get them posted soon.
zatsdeb, I have 2 SLWs. Henrietta, in the pic, is so-so friendly. I can barely get hold of the other one.
In other words, chicks are like a box of chocolates...you never know what you're gonna get!
I am biased against RIRs. I had a terrible childhood experience that still gives me nightmares. We had the meanest rooster and he would chase me. I threw my shoes at him. In my nightmares he is chasing me and I can't run fast enough to get away from him!
Needless to say, I won't ever have RIR's in my flock! I've read many accounts from others about how friendly they are, but I'm afraid I'm scarred for life. Good thing there's so many other breeds to choose from.
Your chicks are soooo adorable! I love the puffy cheeks of the EE chicks. I have two EE chicks that are going on 3 weeks old. And now that I've got my bator hooked up and running, I'm going to give it a couple of days to make sure the temp stays stable, then I'm going in search of eggs...
