I just posted on here yesterday or the day before...wondering if since they have been mating for a couple of weeks,if they would lay soon. I looked on my calendar and they are 17 weeks old now. I felt soo bad for her though. She had a rough time of it. She started in YESTERDAY afternoon, she'd walk away from the flock, come up on my porch, and she'd lay for a long while under my rocking chair, then she'd go back to the coop. The whole time she was panting really hard. I thought for sure I would get one yesterday...but nope,it was this AM. She didn't lay it in the nest box,but she did lay it in the coop. She laid it right inside at the gate. Anyhow,I took this pic with it laying right beside a Large store bought egg. You can tell from the mess on it,it's the brown egg. Not as big as I was hoping for,but hey,it's her first one. I was just sooo happy...after reading all the negative posts concerning Cornish X,I was tickled to find out today, that with the right care, these big sweet birds CAN lead a normal chicken life.
