None of mine have produced any eggs, yet, but I've got money on my Australorp being first. Barred Rock might be right after her. So, I've been introducing them to the nesting boxes, accessorized with the requisite golf balls, hoping they'll get the hint. So, far they don't seem interested, coming right back out and escaping to the run. But, at least they know they're there. I'll let you know if it works. If it doesn't, I'm planning on picking the chicken up and placing her and her egg in the nesting box. Once she's sitting in there with her egg, I'll praise her and give her a treat. I'll let you know if that works, too. Right now I'd settle for an egg in the water bowl!
