Got my first egg!!!

Hi, today I got my first egg. My 3 yo peahen just laid it in the middle of the coop. I put a date on it and put it in the bestbox. I would like her to hatch it out. What should I do next?

That's great. I don't think you need to do anything else. Keep dating and adding more as she lays them and discard them as they get old. She's unlikely to go broody for a while since she's only started laying and be prepared that she may not go broody at all this year.

Also, she will find her own place to sit on eggs. It's not likely she will stay in a nestbox unless she lays some eggs in there.

Keep dating and setting the eggs in the nest box, if she is going to go broody she will use it. Two year hens are not as likely to go broody as mature hens.

The three year old peahen I laying, the 2 year old is not. So is there a chance the 3 year old will sit!

I'm up to 4 eggs now. The 3 yo lays every 2 days and the 2 yo laid her first egg yesterday.
