Today, I had an extra 30 minutes before a hair cut appointment, so I decided to drive one block down to TSC just to look at the new chicks they got in and kill some time. This was BIG mistake #1. My wife and kids were with me. This was BIG mistake #2. Our normal friendly cashier was in there and came back to talk with the kids, and ask about all the pets we have. Of course the kids want to take every chick home, but I am standing firm. No absolutely not! (mean dad I know) Then my youngest son ask her why a few of the chicks in the CornishX pen is so much bigger than the others. She said they are a week older and nobody had wanted them. My son then proceeds to tell me we should take them because no one else wants them. NO! Absolutely not! I say. Then the cashier says I will mark them down to .50 cents each. Um okay, sold! So here we are with 5 more meat chicks that I really didn't need. (She had to get manager approval for the mark down. The manager said half off, which was a dollar, but I still took them) $1.00 a piece and they have been fed for 1 out of the 8 weeks they will be alive. I felt like I had struck gold. I might even go gold mining next Wednesday to see if any are left over. This chicken math thing really does suck!
The above pictured chicks are two weeks old today and I will be getting a picture and posting their growth progress tonight. I am now a dad to 6 two week old cornish and 5 one week old cornish. Please don't let the be any leftovers at TSC next week. lol
