Got my first turkeys!! Pics Added

Ok, got back the other day from the family reunion....... bleah..... am so happy to be back Home!!!


no one died while i was gone, something that worried me the whole time i was gone. The broilers are flipping HUGE!! omg they are like little monster chickens !!!


the turkeys look good, they seem to be doing well. I have one or two that are pooping icky poop, dark and slimy and of course EVERYONE goes nuts when they see it and want to eat it

how gross!!!! they are eating though not as vigorously as i thought they would. perhaps its because im comparing them to the broilers.

i ended up with 6 burbon reds and 9 Slate blues.....

.... PLEASE PLEASE let there be a few hens in there. The slates are a little smaller but those guys seem tough!!

That will work, for a while anyway. Once they really start eating good they grow like weeds so plan your next size up.

already am!! I have a larger brooder outside. I am working on fixing up my old pens, putting roofs on them and such, they are a little run down. They will have a 12 x 20ish pen with 12x10 of that roofed so they will have plenty of shade. I know that will not be large enough for all of them when they grow out. As time goes by i will be putting up more pens and seperating the breeds for next season. Hopefully will have or end up with 2 toms and a few hens of each breed.

Im so excited, i love having them around again. ok........ more chickens.... guineas... peafowl..... some goats.....
