Yesterday, one of my silkie hens wandered into the house. As i quickly shooed her out, we pasted the bator which had a newly hatched chick in it. I knew that a hen had to be broody to care for chicks but i decided to give it a try. I put the chick under her legs as she was standing. She looked under her legs and sat down. I decided to leave them. when i came back she had the chick under her wing. She is now making mother clucking noises. My question is, will she continue to care for chicks the rest of her life?

Well not for the rest of her life, they leave them when they are 6-8 weeks old but if she seems happy with them than she will probably care for them until they grow up. Good luck.

No, what i meant was will be she continue to accept chicks without being broody again or is this just a once of?
