We got our first egg today . Does it look healthy? And will adding a bowl of crushed oyster shell in a separate dish be all I need to add?

The egg looks wet: did you wash it? Washed eggs need storing in the refrigerator, as washing removes the natural protective coat. Unwashed eggs, can safely be stored on the countertop.

If you have a soiled egg, you will have to wash it was you don't want duck poop in your kitchen.

We got this beautiful egg -- it looks like your egg -- from our crested Pekin this morning. She obliged by laying it in clean pine shavings in her pen. She is a little minx though: some mornings she shoots out of the pen and immediately goes and lays her egg behind the aircon unit or behind the shed. They are both clean locations and the eggs are good!
