We got our first hens on March 17th this year. Three Easter Eggers (although two look like black Americauna's to me), and the White spash Easter Egger laid the first egg today. She is about 18 weeks old. One of the black ones also has a red comb now, so hopefully will lay soon. Just wanted to share. This site has been invaluable for a newbie like myself. The Splash did the squat like y'all described - which was funny as all get out...lol....

Anyway, thanks for the site and all of the great help and info!

Thanks everyone! Did y'all eat the first eggs? Just curious as to whether it will be as ummmmm, complete as later ones? I'm completely ignorant on the subject.....:(

That is a lovely egg! I am eagerly awaiting our first egg. My chickens are 18 weeks, and three of them have red combs and wattles. The fourth still has no red on her face

Wooo!
I can't wait until I'm posting mine! This has given me hope that it could be soon! I have EEs too and I keep reading about how they sometimes are late layers.

Mine are 17 weeks and I just heard the egg song. Ran out in the rain to check, nothing.
XD
Just practicing I guess.
