Got our goats yesterday!

They are beautiful. Good luck. You are going to need it.

My 1 buck climbs the fence and out he goes. After his girls.

They can be a pain but they are so worth it. They will come around slowly. Try just sitting in their pen and watching them. Offer a few treats. They will eventually be following you everywhere and trying to rub their heads on you everytime they see you. They are so loving.

I knew climbing was going to be a problem, i just didn't think it would start right away!

I'm going to put a line of electric across the top and another maybe 2 ft from the bottom. That should fix them!

Maybe that is what I need. My boys always want out. My girls stay in and behave. Boys

Let me know how the fence works.

I will! Mine are both girls, so I don't know why my big one is so bad! My husband named her Tsunade, we'll see if it sticks. I probably should not have picked her. She was standing in the hay rack when I picked her out of the bunch. I picked her b/c she was pretty and as big as the mamas, so I figured she was old and mature enough to breed before I took her home. I didn't think about the climbing issue! LOL. The other one is just sweet as pie, even if she doesn't let us near her at all, even if we have food. I need to get some more coffee and get my butt moving to the feed store! lol

They all climb. Some worse than others. We have 2 bucks and bred them to 2 of our does on the 21st. Our biggest buck decided he did not have enough. So he politely climbed over his fence and went to the girls. And climbed in.

He is a handful. He is so friendly just hard headed. But I love him. Good luck.

I got home from buying fencing and insulators, game home to find Tsunade wandering around in the yard!

I got her back in, got most of the insulators in place, gotta find my wire. It's already getting dark! Might have to finish up tomorrow. Stopped for a potty break and decided to check my email, and now I don't want to get up. lol

I am not laughing at you. I am laughing with you. They are a trip. They will try your patience and than try them some more. But they are so worth it. Just something I have learned. Goats don't like spray bottles or the water hose. All I have to do know is show them either one and they back off for awhile.

and for the same reason they don't like rain... because goats are made of brown sugar and they melt when wet.

at least mine are certain they will...
