got some doves today

How do you tell boy from girl on doves?
Looks to me that both are cooing leaning forward and twitching their wings.
Help please i think I got two boys. Do doves have the same breeding habits as pigeons i mean they are cousins.

What kind of doves did you get? They are hard to sex. If they are mature and if one is a hen then her pelvic bones back by her vent will have a wider space than the cock bird. 'Specially if she has laid before. They strut and bow and behave just like pigeons so you may just have to observe them for a while.

with doves and pigeons it is hard to sex until they lay eggs and that is the only way 100% for sure . two same sex birds will sometime mate up . two males no eggs two hens 4 eggs. not what you want to here but as a pigeon breeder you have to let mother nature take her time. have tried the pelvic and the pendlum thing and sometimes right other times wrong . let the birds go for aweek or so and see what happens
