My First Hatch-A-Long-- Herb Theme (first hatch EVER)

60 mph wind gusts knocked our power out for a few hours. We don't have a generator and we have an electric stove, so I couldn't boil water. I used hot water from the tap to fill up some mason jars, packed them up in my car with the seat warmer on and the heat on full blast, and took them to my parents' for an hour or two. They were bewildered but they're warm and safe and they got to meet grandma and grandpa. Look at those fuzzy heads!

Clove hatched! The only two that didn't make it were Lavender and Paprika, the two silkies. Paprika quit around day 9 or 10 and Lavender died some time around lockdown.

Baby Saffron, the chick I had to help hatch, never did fully fluff out after hatching. Just a frazzled little thing. I will say I'm getting rooster vibes from this one, but we'll see.

I sold 5 out of 13 chicks on Thursday, so I'm down to 8. I gave up 3 Black Copper Marans, 1 white silkie, and 1 of my barnyard mixes. Everyone is thriving.

I will be getting a shipment of hatching eggs late next week and I'm expecting a much smaller hatch rate this time around, but we'll see!

Another look at these beautiful babies! They took their first brief trip outside today for a few minutes each.

This little one was hootin and hollerin. My toddler got up and ran away, and baby chased him.
