I was over in the poultry department at my local state fair and found out they were giving away eggs that the hens were laying at the fair. They can't insure that they are fertilized or even tell me WHAT they are. There hatch day is the 22 if they are chickens but I don't even know if they are. What is the incubation period for different kinds of poultry? When they hatch what kind of food should I give? How can I tel what they are? Any info would be useful! I got suckered into getting 39 little beauties and they are all different sizes!

Sounds to me like you got alot of possible SQ babies for free and LUCKED OUT!! Congrats and remember to post pics when they hatch - I'm sure you will get tons of help IDing them once they hatch! Best Wishes... The incubation time for chickens is 21 days, and 28 for Guineas I think, not sure on anything else.....

ok I got another question. With chicken eggs you have to stop turning them on day 18. I know it is always two or three days before hatching. I have a mixed flock of birds in this incubator. Quail can start hatching as early as 16 days and geese as late os 32 days! When do I stop turning? My incubator is on an autoturn cradle I don't have to do anything. I just take the bator off the cradle when it is time to stop turning. What do I do?! I don't have any idea what I actually have!

Chickens 21 days
Turkeys, guineas and Mallard-derived (most) ducks 28 days
Muscovy ducks 35 days

Do you have an incubator?

I'd love to see pics too! Lucky you!
