i ordered the day after i got my catalog, i ordered 5 rir, 10buff orp, 6 light bhrama, a bunch of ancona ducks and i wish i had ordered a hatchery suprise, but i think i will im may. i emailed cackle about whaen the best time to order a supprise was, they emailed me back that i just needed to order for the birds to be shipped at a time when what i might like to recieve was in season. like may, the month when everything they have is hatching. they also said that they would throw some guineas in the box if they had any to add at the time of shipment.
i read somewhere on here that a person was told that they dont put guineas in a suprise with chicks because they peck the chicks feet. so i asked specifically.
i was pretty sure that at least most of the pictures iin the catalog are of cackle birds, mine always look like the pictures. now someone is telling me they called cackle and was told the pictures are not of their birds...........hmmmmm.......the catalog says they are. but i love cackle ! even if it turns out that only some are of their birds , i dont care too much, my birds always look like the pictures, and at least they dont have stylized drawings like some catalogs...to (im my opinion) throw you off the fact that their birds are of super poor quality and dont resemble the actual breed very much.
yay cackle........how many people sit and read the catalog over and over daydreaming about what birdsa they would get if they lived on a huge farm!
