Got The New CaCkle Hatchery Catalog 2010 Today

Good layers. Eggs now getting large (over 2 ounces) usually--started about a month ago getting over 2 ounces consistently. Have keep laying reasonably well through cold weather, but then this is their pullet year. Also without extra lighting. Started laying 21 weeks in September.

Best part, order 5 cockerels and 5 pullets, they sent me 11 total and 6 turned out to be pullets. So good sexing and I got a BONUS chick.

Thanks, Sparklee. How is their size? Have you ever had New Hamps from other hatcheries that you might be able to compare them to...size-wise?

I just got mine, also.

I have already ordered 15 Golden Comets from them to arrive Feb. 11 or 12, and also 5 EE's. I have not tried the Golden Comets before, but I have heard they are egg laying fiends, and I would like to raise my percentages.

I like the EE's just for the color of the eggs, but I have had good luck with their EE's in the past. They were some of my best layers last year.

I got some from another hatchery last year, and have NOT been impressed with them.

I have an incubator FULL of Heritage R.I.R. eggs from Taterschickens that I am allllll excited about!

I have gotten two orders from Cackles. One was wonderful.

The other ended up late and about 40 miles away at the wrong P.O. In fairness, I do not know that this was their fault. It may have been the P.O., or just a glitch. Those chicks lived, but did not do well at all. They were just in transit too long.

In general, I think Cackle is good, and it is fun to read over their catalog.

I got my cackle hatchery catalog yesterday!!!! The only new things they have are: Splash silkies, and Standard Buff Bramahs! And I think thats about it!
