If anyone can suggest the best and quickest way to get rid of roos (without killing them - I'm not there yet) it would be greatly appreciated. Two of my six chickens are crowing already (only 9 weeks old) and I don't want my neighbors giving me grief.
Or if anyone lives near me (Roseville, Ca) and wants a red sex link or black australorp please let me know.

I had three extra roos to find homes for. I posted signs at the library and the post office. Told everyone I came in contact with that I had roos to give away.
All three boys went to a wonderful home with 80 hens.

you guys got lucky-I posted all over on craigs list on here and word of mouth...no one wanted these guys 4 of them. So next weekend I am going to butcher myself! I am just retrieving the breasts, legs and maybe wings. I told my boos what my plans were and hes coming to help me! These boys I purposely did not get attached too. I always keep a pen of possible roos together so when the time comes like next weekend It will not be so hard. Trust me 3 months ago-I would have Never done this, but I cant even give them away and fresh chicken sounds good seeing as they eat alot-they are 13 weeks old now-good luck

I got Foghorn (my white leghorn roo) on freecycle. Maybe that is an option. I know some freecycle groups do not allow you to post animals and such but others do. I was very lucky I guess with my 16 chicks I got this spring not one was a roo. I had wanted one also.

I think that any time you get chicks, even if they're sexed at the hatchery, you need a good Plan B for any unwanted roosters you might get. It's tempting to give them all names right from the start and get otherwise attatched to them as individuals, that makes it all the more difficult to get rid of them if they turn out to be unwanted roosters.

Try all the free/low-cost advertising sources in your area, CraigsList, FreeCycle, other online message boards, real bulletin boards at your feed store & animal care places. There's a section of this forum for Buy/Sell/Trade, maybe you could find a BYCer in your area. Also check the Where are you /Where am I section to find nearby members.

You can also try tucking $20 bills under their wings, maybe then folks will be more interested in your roosters.

You may be fortunate to find some of the few available positions for a rooster as a pet or flock husband. You may also have to adopt a "don't ask/don't tell" position with folks who want the roos as dinner guests. There really are far more roosters, really around 90% more, hatched than can ever find non-food employment. I wish you success with your search.

I am actually taking my roo to the feed store I buy feed at they have a bunch of chickens, pigs, goats so they said why not one more so i would try your feed store if you have a tractor supply store or anything like that put up a poster! Im hoping to get a free bag of feed after work for exchange

I did Craig's List and they're gone. I just hope they went to a good home. The man had goats in his truck and was older so hopefully he's not a disguised cock fighter.
