You see the problem that run has was the pure size of the chicken wire wall. if they had support beams and the wire pulled tightly that would not and could not happen. If ther is NO give in the wire they can not rip like that. I know I tried and i am 6 foot 3 and 280 pounds former division one football palyer. I was barley able to stretch out a hole to fit my hand.

When done properly it is very strong

You underestimate the strength and determination of a full grown coon. Or even a dog who wants to get to something. From your own pics, your chickenwire wall is not all that different from the one I posted with the coon sized hole in it. But hey, it's your coop and chickens, good luck to you. I'll stick with hardware cloth.
