Gout ?

took one of my hens to a vet this afternoon ( my first ever )...thinking hen had bumblefoot...vet thinks it's Gout.

Never heard of chickens developing gout....

She ( Gertrude ) is a 2 y/o Lavender Orpington ...will have photos tomorrow. Feet are wrapped up and she is resting in a dog crate right now.

Gertrude doing better today. I have her on Clindamycin from the vet, daily dressing changes and I got her a small bag of mealworms as an extra treat.

Is that mud on the bottom of the foot in the second picture, or it is dark crusty skin? If it is the latter, thaat is footpad dermatitis from damp, muddy environment or poop.

The feet look like they have had frostbite where the toe tips have fallen off. Did you see them when the toes were black and shriveled? They look a bit fat from the frostbite I believe.

I agree with @Eggcessive
That's not gout. Gout usually occurs in older birds. I have a rooster with gout and know what it looks like.
I've seen photos of frostbitten feet in poultry and that's what it looks like to me as well.
