Hey everyone. I have been looking for a cabinet incubator for a while and came across this semi locally. Personally I only want 1 but he said 1 is set up as an incubator and 1 as a hatcher. He wouldnt sell only the incubator. He said he has had very high hatch rates up until September when he stopped incubating. Is this a good setup? Should I just spend a bit more and get a new 1502? Would $400 be a more reasonable offer? Any input is appreciated. Fyi I am a small hobby farm that has a need beyond the styrofoam incubators but maybe 1 of these at full capacity.

Getting both of them would be ideal. It is really nice to be able to set a new batch of eggs on a weekly basis. By moving the eggs to the hatcher at lockdown you don't have to change the humidity or temperature in the incubator. You will be able to clean out the hatcher after every use to get it ready for the next lockdown. Your incubator will stay substantially cleaner because there won't be any chick dander getting into everything like it will in the hatcher.

You don't have to set new eggs every week but you can.

I use a 1202 incubator that is nearly 30 years old and have been really happy once I got a hatcher to use with it.

How do you feel about the price?

I agree with @R2elk, l also have 2 of the old 1202's. Plus another that I DIY built that's a 'knock off' of the 1202. Good, reliable incubator.
Is $400 for both or for each? $400 for both would be a steal..
He is asking $600 for both.

He is asking $600 for both.
In my opinion $600 is a fair price. Obviously if you can get him to come down it would be even better. It is still much better to get both an incubator and a hatcher for $600 than it is to pay $600+ for a new Sportsman.

Good luck.
