GQF 1502 Question

That is certainly possible. Depending on how skilled you are, it is possible to make the rest of the auto fill system yourself. If your water tray has the float valve already in it the hardest part is already done. If it doesn't, it should be possible to use a float valve designed for a swamp cooler for that part of the project. The remaining parts would be a five gallon bucket with a lid, tubing and parts to make a waterproof connection through the bucket. I believe a 3/8" close nipple (preferably pvc or nylon) should be able to have a hose washer easily slipped over it to act as seals against the bucket sides and then screw a connector on each side of the bucket wall to compress the hose washers to get a waterproof seal. After that make whatever connections on the outside to get to the size tubing adaptor that you need.

I built my own auto watering system with a toilet mechanism that feeds the bucket holding water for a gravity fed nipple system. I love it, all i have to do is put a few drops of bleach in the bucket once a week (to make sure nothing grows in there, as we are on well water) and then check that the water is coming out of the nipples daily. Their water is clean and fresh all the time :)... I'm thinking that this would not be much different, thanks for the details !.

I would like to know if everyone using this incubator keeps the water tray full and adds a wick when you have any eggs in lockdown. I did my first hatch like that and got 75% hatch rate. My humidity run 44-46% with just water then goes up to 64% with the wick. I've got quail eggs in now that had been in a week when the chicken eggs went into lock down. I assum the eggs in the setting/rocking trays are not hurt by the higher humidity for 3-4 days for the other ones to hatch??? After all that's how the sportsman incubator is designed to work as incubator and hatcher for a months worth of eggs.

that is a very good question and one i'd like to know the answer to as well...

Ok so now i have 3 in lockdown, i added both wicks to keep the RH up to about 63%. I also still have 26 on the turning trays.
2 of the 3 in the hatcher hatched already. Big dilemma was how to add water to the pan without opening the door because i had
one pipped but not hatched already.
so i got one of those plastic corrugated straw things (like the kind you get for your drinks at the fair) and I taped it to a funnel,
then i opened the top hole poked it in and filled up the tray from the funnel. It wasn't ideal but got me through until the pipped
egg had hatched and i could open again to refill it.

Hoping #3 hatched today, then i'll return the RH to normal and see what happens with the remaining 26 next week!

I'm interested in this homemade watering setup, do you any pictures of this watering system you can share?
