Anyone owning a GQF model with the preset "toggle" switch can probably help me.
Our thermostat has a series of 5 toggle switches. With "3" depressed, we get a setting of 100 degrees. If I try to change it, it goes too hot or too cold. Can anyone explain to me how to set the switches so the incubator heats to 99.5 degrees? We are in the middle of a hatch and I hate to experiement with purchased hatching eggs.
The unit is inside our house at @ 70 degrees, if that makes any difference.
Any advice is greatly appreciated.
Thanks a bunch for your answers,
Kelli

Mine sits at 100 too. I wouldn't worry about it. Most times I get 100% hatches, so it's not affecting my eggs. Good luck with your hatch!

We too have good hatch rates, but so far this spring we've had a slew of roosters. I've read a discussion recently that suggested higher hatching temperatures might be the cause of this. Do you think there's any truth to that?

The sex of the chicken is determined by the hen when she makes the eggs. Temperature has nothing to do with it.

I have 2 sportsmans now and i run mine on 100 they are the new ones with all the digital stuff so your temps are good in my opion. As for the rooster rate temp has no efect at all you have right at a 50 % chance of getting a rooster and it seams like a 30% chance of getting a hen

Great, I won't change a thing. Leave it set @ 100 and hope for the best. And thanks for putting my mind at ease about who genders the chicks. I was beginning to feel quilty over all the little fellas we have out in the brooder
