Gradually dimming/ brightening lights on a timer?

Hello! I have 8 four month old chickens. I was thinking of setting up a system that would mimic sunrise and sunset inside the coop, to get my girls on a more normal schedule... currently, they don't leave the coop until around noon, and they don't go back inside until after dark, then they can't find the roost so they sleep on the floor, unless I leave a light on inside. They just seem confused! If the light gradually came on around 6 am and gradually faded off around 9 pm, maybe they'd figure out how and when to go to bed/ get up? The only thing I've found that will do this is a alarm clock light system that mimics sunrise...

Hi and welcome to BYC - thanks for joining us. Hope the lighting system works well for you.

Hello there, and welcome to Backyard Chickens! Quite pleased you could join the flock! I have not used lighting for my chickens so I'll defer to the experts on that one. I hope you enjoy BYC!
