I'm out of state right now visiting my husband. My sister and the boys have been looking after Grady and his flock so they are basically just getting let out and locked in every night.
My sister sent me a text saying Gradys eye looked irritated, this has happened once before so I wasn't too worried. I ordered some vetericyn eye wash the first day it looked irritated and since it wouldn't be there until after the weekend I just used the antibiotic vetericyn spray I had on hand. I washed his eye 2x that day and the next morning. By bed time the following night it cleared up all the way.
I didn't get the picture of my babys face until much later that night and I just cried. It looks so bad! I'm normally with him in the morning, every night to at least give him a hug n kiss before bed so I guess I caught it immediately. It looked slightly swollen. It was no big deal.
I'm not sure what could've caused this. I told my sister to make sure and wash his eye out 2x a day with the eye wash. Do you guys have any idea on what's going on or what might not be going on? I told the kids to make sure he has fresh water every day and change his pool every 3 days. Could this be from not having fresh water or simply just Grady being Grady? I don't be home until Monday night so I am besides myself. Any thoughts or suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks guys

I know someone on insta that has a baby parrot that was in and out of the vet office with an ongoing eye infection, the antibiotics just couldn’t get rid of the infection. She decided to take poor little Indy to another vet who tested the bacteria strain and found it was resistant to the antibiotics the first vet was prescribing, unfortunately it was too late to save the eye so it had to be removed to prevent further necrosis and infection. Indy has been thriving since the eye was removed so it’s a happy ending.

It might be a good idea to have Grady’s eye looked at and tested for what kind of bacteria it is Incase he has something similar going on.
