Grain Mites

Hi ya'll I am in need of some advice as to what to do with my grain mite problem. I noticed them a few months ago in my feed bag, and at that point it was like a full infestation they were everywhere, even in my house! I threw all the feed away and sanatized and cleaned everything and then I went out a bought a large, bird food tub that closes shut. I thought this would do the trick and I haven't noticed any mites or anything in months.
Then today I went to refill my feed and noticed mites all inside the white feeding tub. What am I doing wrong or what can I do to prevent them? Their feed is stored in the garage, but like I said the feed is in a closed white container and its off the ground. I read somewhere online that bay leaves help deter them?
Any advice will help!!

I use DE in feed if mites are in it when I buy it.
I transfer the feed to another container adding DE as I go.
Can take a bit to kill them all depending on how many there are.

Not sure what to tell you about having them in your home.
