HA_HA_HA! In my home town we have a club called "The Elks" I'm sure that doesn't help with the confusion!
Yep! We have that too, but isn't that because it is posessive? Which of course means it should more properly be called "The Elk's Club" I do think that certain things are just understood. I don't think that everything has to be PERFECT. I think what bothers me the most is the fact that no one even tries. [edit] to change 'NO one' to so few... or not enough?
I honestly don't notice every little thing, and I can easily 'convert' mistyped things, (letters out of order or things that are obviously from fingers flying too fast). It's the really, really sloppy things that bother me. Of course, I was raised in a family where English was NOT the first language of my grandparents or my parents, so a very high value was placed on learning how to speak and write properly!!! The same circumstances mean that I can see, hear and understand when people make mistakes, and not overreact most of the time, because not everyone can help it!
