Hey guys, that wasn't an insult, it was a compliment. You misunderstood. It could have been "fill in the blank." Several of the previous comments sounded a little condescending. Would a carpenter be more likely to get a person off an island or a grammarian? That's all.

Yesterday I watched the Clint Eastwood bio. It was said over and over that he treated everyone on his set the same, from the "star" down to the stagehand. To me, that is class.

I know. We're all having a little fun here.

But let me ask this: If stranded on an island with a carpenter who is also a grammarian, why would you even want to get off it?

I can't think of a single reason to even consider trying to get off the island!!

Wayne, I just remembered something. My husband admits he just knows basic handyman stuff but we have watched "This Old House" for years.

Last summer two young guys (probably summer jobs) were sent by Lowes to hook up my new washing machine. One was having a problem turning the hot water on so not wanting to sound like a "female" I said in a very low voice, "Lefty loosey, rightly tighty." The guy turned around and looked at me like I was ready for the looney bin. When I told my neighbor about it, I thought she would dribble all the way home she laughed so hard.

That was the best thing that I've ever learned from TV--it makes me look smarter than I am, especially to DH!

Geez, you all nit pick everything.

It is not condescending, I was merely repeating what I heard and furthermore, it was intended to show a range, not a specific. I worked with theatre for many years and I know the value of backstage expertise--so there! lol Maybe you can catch the Clint Eastwood bio sometime. It really was interesting.
