Hi everyone, I'm Joel.
This is the second time around with raising chickens as pets first.
This started years ago when a local mom n' pop pet shop that specialized in exotic birds.
After visiting the place like it was a zoo many times I mentioned that I'd love to raise birds but have no experience. He walked in the back and came out with a bag of Growena and a Silky chick. "Fifi" not only got raised, she was easy to train...including allowing an eye patch and sitting on my shoulder while I dressed as a pirate and handed out halloween treats. She even let the kids pet her.
Fast forward to being in the local feed store when my loving wife started "ooh and awe" at the baby chicks. Now with a 200 sq ft. run and building another 200 sq. ft. run ...the 2nd run is just for the 3 Brahmas I just bought. The other is the Noah's ark...We have 1 rir, two wyandottes, 2 australorps, 2 dominiques, 2 easter eggers, and a poland rooster that will be breeding elsewhere as soon as I get easter egger crosses with wild hair and a mustache.
The Brahmas is my desire to raise olympic body builders..haha.
I've been reading this site for months.
