Grandpa's Chicken Feeder Trainer piece

Hello, I bought a Grandp's Automatic Chicken Feeder years ago. I trained my old flock (may their fluffy feathers rest in peace) and it worked great.
I now have a new flock and can't find the trainer piece and don't remember what it looked like. Can't find a photo anywhere on the web sites that sell them. I was planning on going to homedepto to find some thing I could put together to train the new girls. Can anyone post a photo or make suggestions. My husband is not really being helpful with this.... seems like he is the chicken treat department and I take care of the day-to-day stuff. Any advice on rats. I bought a few of those black plastic containers you put poison in. I've tried the electric battery operated traps with limited luck. I hate using poison but since I live in a residential area can't have rats since the neighbors are close. We live near a open meadow with water and they come from there to visit and look for food. Thank you, sitting out back with my girls and a Corona Light.

For the rats, search on Youtube for the bucket mouse trap. It's essentially like an episode of 'American Gladiator' (remember that show?) where the rats will try to cross on a rolling cylindrical platform to get to the bait, and in doing so they spin themselves and fall down into a 5 gallon bucket with water to drown! I hear it's highly effective.

A bolt was used in some of the earlier models to prevent the lid from closing all the way. A chunk of wood or a rock will serve as just as well. These guillotine style feeders do require blocking open for training.
