A little background on these eggs is necessary. I ordered some Polish a few months ago from a very nice last-minute my first shipped eggs. It turned out her roo was not doing his duty. Out of 18 eggs 5 developed. 1 hatched. 1 that didn't had scissor beak. I blamed the poor hatch on my inexperience with shipped eggs and low fertility.
The very kind lady reshipped 24 eggs, but there was a mistake. She is in Florida. I am in Louisiana ... my eggs went to Kentucky . She accidentally got our orders swapped. She repaid shipping for the eggs to be reshipped. That makes 2 cross country trips with the good 'ol postal service. Only 5 eggs out of the 24 developed. 2 quit after 5 days. 3 made it to lockdown and none survived.
The first chick - SEVERE beak deformity. I have only seen this twice - both times from the same person. This is more severe then the first time. Is it her breeding stock or shipping issues?
Chick 2: inner pipped but died.
Chick 3: never internally pipped
So what happened? I have never had a 0% hatch. I have now hatched shipped eggs at least a dozen times. I incubated the same as always.
