Update, she returns to her enclosure last night after tempting her with food. She's made it through the night, she let me pick her up this morning and we went straight into the shower, got lots of dirt and dried blood off. She's more than defeathered, her skin was ripped off her back and front side. The skin with feathers is hanging loose from her neck, I'm afraid to cut it off but now it's clean.
My big concern is her neck, she has a large bulge that is opened. It was full of hay and one type of grain in her food, I guess some sack of unprocessed food, I removed some of grain and hay so it could close it; haven't yet.
Hen's been really patient with me removing loose feathers and hair stuck to her, I even cut away some loose skin from her back with little grief; I think I can close her up fairly easily. Waiting on her to dry infront of the heater before doing anything further.
So questions, how to properly close that hole. I can do neosporin but not sure how to wrap her being that raw. Is there any OTC or animal store antibiotics I can give her? We've avoided feed with anything like that in it.
