GRAPHIC PICS of my day learning to caponize

In the process of trying to order the following tools

from the following webpage http://www.mistertao.com/yext/pages/item/18790069108.html. It was about $30 after shipping and after a 1% foreign currency fee my card added.
So far my visa company has not been happy with the transaction. but indicated to try again tomorrow after the various locks are removed. I am planning on going home tonight - so if I feel adventurous, I might dig out one of my fathers ranch tool boxes from the garage and do some exploring for his tools (other box is in the barn and will need to wait till the weekend.

That is pretty much the same set everybody else has gotten. The set you show looks like it may contain the set for larger(older) birds as well.

@Poco Pollo is the one who has ordered the bulk of the sets that folks have here.

Send me a PM if you run into problems using Mister Tao. They will not ship some items and may cancel your order. You need to check your messages on Mister Tao every day to be sure you know what's going on. I no longer buy from Mister Tao, but my contact in China buys from vendors who provide product for Mister Tao.

Are you doing another order soon? I need a set of tools by early July and would like to get in on an order.

I need to make it to Saturday, as the end of the school year is turning into Chaos on steroids. I will send you information on Saturday about the different sets and shipping estimates.

I got a bit ancy (clock is ticking on the incubator), and attempted shopping as I read the thread (rather than waiting till the end). Poco's generous offer is very appreciated. I have made a few other orders to Asia, but they still make my jittery-and now I have 2 inbound (tools and light). In theory, the shopping is done except for once critical item, I have no roo's. I have been counting my chickens before they hatch... I am going to get some frying pan specials after work (saw some last Friday, so will see if there are still left at an honest price today). If I don't get my neighbors help - at least I will not mind experimenting on the frying pan specials.

Check your emails daily. They charge once for the tools and then they charge again for the shipping.

And check out Schlecht Hatchery. They are sex link males for $.65 + shipping and the sex link males grow BIG

I have to check Mr Tao's daily for the tools. I also have to monitor the tracking on the ebay purchase since they warn the headlights can get stopped by customs both as surgical instruments and because of the batteries. Like I said, Poco offer is generous.

what fun, sitting back on hold with cc company. I think this is the 3rd or 4th phone to the CC company (they really do not like sending money to a province in China - but 2nd pmnt has been made. Hurray. Total cost ended up being close to $60 - oh well.

wow, headlight came in today as well... Guess that one was not shipped from China, but from a US warehouse.

I want to thank all of you for the wealth of information, step-by-step instructions, and great pictures on caponizing cockerels. I must say that I spent much of the 2 months it took me to gather all of the supplies reading and rereading this forum. Yesterday day I gathered my courage and tried my hand at caponizing 10 Arucana cockerels.

It was a horrid failure! The 1st on bled to death when I cut that large artery. Blood just started pumping into the cavity and I knew he was a goner. I located the artery on the 2nd before I tried to remove the teste, but ended up cutting it anyways so that one expired too. The 3rd and 5th ones lived, but the 5th & 6th ones did not. I had to stop there as I couldn't take killing any more of them. I put the 2 that lived in isolation boxes with food and water, cleaned up, went to bed depressed and beating myself up for putting those chicks through such a slow and painful death.

Well this morning I got up to checked on them I found them both moving around eating and loudly complaining about me to each other. I also found that my brother had dressed out the 4 cockerels that didn't make it and made a nice pot of chicken soup for lunch. He gave me a pep talk and helped me finish the final 4 chicks - EVERY LAST ONE OF THOSE LIVED!!

So final count: of the 10 chicks I started with - I now have 6 full capons (I was able to get both intact testes out of all of them), 3 of which I was able to get both testes from 1 side so they didn't have to endure a second incision! 6 little capons that will hopefully recover and live peacefully for the rest of their days.
