I'm interested in this also, being as my birds' coop and run will be at the edge of the hayfield behind my house and they will get to free range in it all along. The hayfield is predominately bahia grass. I was thinking about getting a couple of rolls of hay from the first cutting (it should have wildflowers, weeds, etc.,. in it) and hold it till the winter. Then do a semi henyard as described in Sykes "The Henyard" by unrolling the rolls in the run in front of the pop door. But, the thought of all of that hay underfoot the chickens concerns me a bit.
