I am looking for grass seed to replenish my garden (in UK) for my ducks & wanted to ensure the grass seed is suitable for the ducks - any suggestions on the best seeds to buy?
Thanks

Hello and

,
Since I'm no duck expert (never owned a duck in my life, held one only when I was 6) I would ask around the Ducks forum. I hope you get your answers!!

Welcome to BYC!

I've never had ducks either (chicken person here) but they are fun looking birds to have! In addition to the duck forum link you've been given, you might like to pop in on the UK thread and chat with members closer to you:

Nice to have you here, have fun with the ducks!

I have ducks but ive never bought a specific grass seed for them to eat. the grass I have has dandilions and clover mixed in. I dont know if that helps you out.

! I'm living in Ireland and have got the exact same problem as you. I originally put down roll-out grass but now it's literally a mudbath, with the wettest month on record in December and a very small garden didn't help

. One of the things I would suggest is preparing the ground very well. Also, how's the drainage? If it's as bad as my drainage then you'll need sandsoil to soak up the water. I heard grade 3 grass is exellent for ducks and shady areas (bingo!!!!!). What ducks have you got?
Don't forget to put down some sort of grit either in their food or in the grass. If you don't they will yank it up.
