I have my three girls in a pen that is about 16' x 16'. I have pea gravel in the open run and bricks in the enclosed run (where they sleep, which is 4' x 6'), I used to lock them in their house at night, but it turned out too small to be able to continue doing that, so they just lay their eggs in there. One of my ducks currently has a mild case of bumblefoot and is inside being treated for it. I'm afraid the gravel and bricks may have at least contributed to it. So, I was thinking maybe I can keep the gravel around their pool and maybe plant grass in the rest of the run, and I'm not sure about the enclosed run... I would love some suggestions of what I could put in their that would be easy to clean and nice on their feet.

Do you think they would just demolish the grass in no time and it would be bare dirt or mud (like the chickens and them did to the yard) even if it's away from their pool? I look at pictures of other peoples runs but you can tell they just put them together and the grass is all perfect and green. I want to see it after a couple months!

Here is a picture to get a better idea of what it looks like: I'm looking into building them a new, bigger, better, and easier to clean house (it's currently only 2' x 3').
