Grass seed

Is it ok for chickens to eat seed that has not germinated yet in the lawn? Untreated grass seed

Yes, they ate all mine last year and they are still alive.

Mine scarfed down a 12 lb bag of it. Ahem.

After I had painstakingly spread it around the run in an effort to reseed.

So I switched to clover seed! Yeah! Then they ate the sprouts.

this spring dad spread 5 kg of the stuff on his lawn, and he accidentally left the coop door open...
when he got back from the feed store, it was all gone, and billy and his girls looked very pleased with them selves.
dad was not a happy man, they are all still alive now, so it isn't toxic unless it is treated.
