My husband built a new enclosure for my peafowl. He will be putting up the netting this week. It is roughly 80 x 50 feet with a 15 x15 enclosed "house/roost". My question is - there is adequate drainage, but one area will more than likely be muddy at times. Should we place gravel on this area? If so, we want to do it before putting up the netting. These are our first peas and we really don't know if they should walk on gravel or not????
Thanks in advance for any information,
B.K.

My friend has gravel in his. They can walk on rocks, It would be better I think w/gravel instead of mud pit. I know we had to fix his. Gravel first, it is easier, much easier. I have to put sand in mine a couple times a year but it just flies right through. Good luck

We have sand too.
Easy to clean, keeps dust down to help prevent sinusitis, worms and parasites do not thrive in sand, drains well and no mud, easy on peafowl feet. And the peas love the sand.
