Does anyone know how to make something like this. I've have seen lots of pictures of those chicken nipples in the bottom of the bottle instead I want a bottle with the nipple on the side and to have it hanging against a cage. I get the basics of drilling a hole but what would I use to seal it up? Would just using a bolt in the back work? This is different than the ones that you connect to tubs for multiple cages. I try and Google the proper name for this fitting but not sure what it is called. I've spent many hours or days looking up specific parts for a product before when knowing the name would have stop my search in 3 seconds. I don't want to use a chicken nipple but will if I can't figure out what this is. Can you attach those from the side?

Looks like you could attached it on the side, as long as the wall is thick enough for the thread to stay. Maybe you could use a nut on the back to keep it from coming off or use some clear silicon RVT to keep it in place. Don't know how it will work when the chicken pecks at it. Good luck.

@Quailgenes

I've never seen that type of nipple before. Huh. Not sure yet how it works, guess I'd have to see a video first.

We use the horizontal nipples Jorf mentioned. They work great. Easy to install.

Thank you I will just go with the horizontal ones now I just need to figure out what I'm attaching it to.

If you use pvc pipe, use something bigger than 1/2". I have heard of folks having a bugger of a time getting to thread them into pipe that small. You may also want to drill threads into the pvc regardless. They self-thread easily into softer plastics like plastic buckets.
