Gray spots on comb?

One of my hens has some gray spots on her comb (a couple of pictures below). It affects the tips and a couple of spots in the interior section of the comb (meaning, not on the edge). She seems fine -- she's eating, drinking and laying as normal, but I'm worried about it. I've been watching it for a couple of days, and it doesn't seem to be better -- or worse. Does anyone know what this could be? She's about six months old. Thanks for any insight you can share.

do you have a rooster? our girls got bruises on ther combs, turns out the rooster was using their combs as love handles.

Thank you, Lemontea! That's a possibility that I will watch closely. It has been hot here, and there are tons of mosquitoes, of course.

LOL, Robert! No roosters in my flock, so I don't think it's that...

It does look rather like pox. You don't have to do anything. This seems to be the mildest form of it. Last year mine had it like this and you could never tell by the way the acted. This year my new chicks got it in a different way and some of them stopped eating. Large bumps and swelling focused mainlly on the heads, beaks and legs.

Hi I think after researching that I have pox showing up. My OEGB roo that lives in a pen & my AG roo that freeranges have this stuff showing up on their combs. My question is how & why do they get this? There are no other chickens around for them to come in contact with & we've raised most of them. Here are some pictures. The AG roo has the stuff all over his face & comb & I think I can see some places on a couple of the hens who have almost quit laying for me in the last week How do I get rid of it? I'm trying to put the pictures but BYC's site seems to be having trouble, it won't take the pictures. I'll try to put pictures later

Mosquitos carry it in. Not much you can do or really need to do at this point. Unless it gets in the eyes or is the wet version you can just let it run its course. It looks like the dry kind. I have only had complications when it was non-standard comb varieties that get it...like polish or silkies.

The not egg laying is most likely from them going into a moult at this time of the year.

It seems to be resolving in my flock without my having done anything to address it. A couple of my other chickens also had spots, but they're all eating and laying as normal and don't seem bothered by it. I'm keeping an eye on it, but so far, so good... Funny that we have to call it "fowl pox" since "chicken pox" is already taken!
