I put Vaseline on my chicken's combs to prevent frostbite, which I guess worked, because they didn't get frostbite. However their heads are now dark with oil and dirt, looks like the oil oozed down. My poor orps now have brownish heads. It's too cold to give them a bath, and they would probably stress too much if I brought them inside to wash their heads! Any suggestions ?
