I am not so sure about that Dennis. The "Want China Times" is published in Taiwan, but it draws heavily on the Red Chinese handouts. They also publish a paper in San Gabriel, California. The newsgroup is a pro unification operation.

I am still uneasy about it.

Even at the height of the cold war, we never discussed targets, especially cities.

Somehow knowing that China's only aircraft carrier to date is from the "used" scrap hull they aquired from another country, then retrofitted it as a small aircraft carrier does not have me on "pins and needles",nor does the fact they openly say what targets they would likely strike first, mainly the west coast. It's possible China sat back and intently observed the way the US systimatically took apart Iraq's infrastructure, first their power supplies, radar arrays, then individual targets after Iraq had no way of even knowing US airstrikes was coming. The US has the largest in numbers of everything when it comes to war assets,,US taxpayers has done well. And to once again keep hemet dennis from disputing every single letter I type, please read this page for the proof. And no you don't need to pay for a subscription to see the link.
http://www.dailypaul.com/108801/us-china-russian-military-strength-compared The small numbers of everything China has considering military strength is somewhat curious but not a threat in my opinion. Here is another synopsis of who has what in military terms,,once again hemet,,it's all here for you to discredit, ect! http://www.globalfirepower.com/

As I stated China's saber rattling is for their domestic consumption. They know they wouldn't have a chance in any type of fight against us. To think that I would now say something different say you didn't read what I said. You seem to be like an alligator.

The aircraft carrier is not a piece of junk. It is a pretty formidable vessel. It deserves some respect.

Also, if you examine Woody Island on Google Earth you will see that the Chinese have turned it into a stationary aircraft carrier. The island belonged to Viet Nam, but at the end of the war the Chinese seized it. They extended the runway, building into the sea.

Just recently, they gave it status as a municipality. A municipality bristling with rockets.

The US on the other hand has virtually abandoned Wake, Midway and Johnston Islands. There are people there to take care of the wildlife, and that is pretty much all they do.

This must not give people in Guam a feeling of security. The road to Hawaii is open.

Their aircraft carrier is only in the 50-60,000 ton size, half of the weight-size of our Nimitz class nuclear carriers now.Seems China bought this old hulk of a boat from the Ukraine on the pretense of making it a floating casino,,seems a flight deck wasn't in their plans when purchased for the scrap price.Rufus, I never said an aircraft carrier was junk,,but comparing that what took China decades to retrofit, and it's only 1/2 the size of the Nimitz class. I believe with our 12 comissioned Nimitz class aircraft carriers, with 3 more currently being built, each one has the capabilities or more of island installations-outposts has.Plus they are mobile, where an island is a fat non moving target. Put together a 6-10 ship task force and compare the two.

The Chinese carrier is a training carrier. It will also be used to show the flag around Asia. They're building as many as 3 Nimitz size carriers. Also not being nuclear powered China has to import the fuel for this carrier.

I remember reading about the Chinese purchasing the hulk to use as a casino. I thought I wouldn't want to bet on that.

Moving to unmanned drones seems to be the future for naval aviation. Especially, for suicide drones They have longer distance ability because they won't have to return to the ship.

Small ship, large ship, they are all junk on the sea floor when they get hit with a silkworm missile. There is a reason we don't have battle ships anymore. Too much expensive assets tied up in a vulnerable target.

I see Fiat is completing its buy out of the UAW's share of Chrysler. It will then be wholly owned by Fiat. The incorporation will be abroad, and Fiat will pay taxes only on the earnings of Chrysler's US sales subsidiary. I expect the manufacturing to be moved abroad, probably to Mexico, Brazil or Argentina. Hopefully, not China.

Again, the unions have shot the US industrial base in the foot. We will sorely miss the tax revenue.

Did you read any of the comments on this story ? One guy said the U.S. should drop out of OPEC and set our own prices. But the really bad part is, he had 7 people that gave him an up vote.
I just cannot believe sometimes how stupid people are.

But back to the story. You do know that OPEC has been backing most of the anti-fracking movement, and blocking the Keystone pipeline. It's just in public that they say fracking is no problem for them, but they do know better.
