The centuries-old hatred continues.

I am sorry about her garden. I'm a little heart-broken, too... It's painful when people bulldoze memories. Eventually, I will have to deal/cope with selling my parents' home and property. I have no doubt their 1970s "low-ceiling" home will be mowed down for the sake of a giant McMansion, as you say. Smooth stucco and Spanish tile seem to make the world go 'round these days.

I just want goats, chickens, and room to roam.

They knock down sturdy block homes and erect those styrofoam boxes. The studs are on 20, 24 or even 28 inches. Then they are covered with styrofoam sheets and chicken wire. The stucco is the only thing giving support to the building.

They replace one house with three or four new ones. There is no yard. The house is one big barn connected to a garage. The rooms are not defined. There is no privacy.

Eventually, we will have a shake that will bring those heavy tile roofs down. They make a beautiful home, but beauty is but skin deep, but ugly is to the bone. Tile hurts when it falls on someone.

The most durable thing about those houses is the mortgage.

I watched the debate last night. I guess we saw the public stance on issues rather than the private one. Keep an eye open for more wikileaks postings. Is Julian Assange dead? His dead man switch kicked in. I sure hope they didn't kill him.

Pamela Anderson visited him and fed him a vegan meal.

On a serious note, I was VERY disappointed in Trump's debate last night. He had SO much material to work with (Bill's $1M "birthday gift" from the Saudis, his 26 trips to Prince Albert's pedo island, Wikileaks and the 12,000 emails revealing her hatred for the "every day American," any one of the countless LIES she told, the pay-to-play schemes, the Clinton Foundation accepting foreign campaign contributions, I could go on!), and I was very surprised when he came out like soggy cereal on her.

I appreciated his second debate. He seemed mad. This one... he just seemed... Really lame.

I'd like to add that to his "I'll keep you in suspense" regarding accepting the outcome of the election and people decrying this as an attack on democracy, Al Gore kept the election results tied up in the courts LOOONG after the election was over crying foul.

But I guess that doesn't count.

Well, the fact that sensitive info regarding nuclear response time (something a Secretary of State would know but should clam up about) was divulged on national television tells me all I need to know about a candidate. When I worked on nuclear technology (won't name company, still getting a pension) if I mentioned anything regarding yield, accuracy, or reliability publicly I would have been in a world of serious hurt. Even mission anomalies (not that we ever had one) were never to be discussed publicly, even with family members. Worked at that company for 35 years and kept my mouth shut. Apparently, some folks don't realize they have the right to remain silent, but not the ability. See how smart I am? I know secret information!

What I find disturbing about Duterte's war against dope peddlers is that the Philippine justice system is a carbon copy of our system. If it happens there, it can happen here. Marcos was greedy, but he never killed as many people as Duterte has. But, then again as they say in Texas, "They needed killing."

China and Viet Nam claim some of the Parcel Islands that are also owned by the Philippines. How this will work out is yet to be seen. It looked like China was pushing for war. The oil and gas deposits could be considerable. They may come to some agreement, or they may not. It would be better if they cooperated and split the business.

Getting close to Russia is somewhat dangerous. Remember how in the 1960's Sukarno brought Indonesia into the Soviet orbit. Then in a furious orgy of murder, the Muslim Brotherhood took out the Indonesian Communist Party. The Russian bear now has one paw in the trap in Syria; do they want to try for another?

Remember, Russia has its own problem with Islam. It backs up to all the stan countries and Chechnya is still an open wound. The Saudis have considerable sway in the area.
