Help, Great horned owls and hawks are killing my guineas. Have any of you ever used the solar night guard? There are great reviws on their site. I'd like to hear from real folks that have tried it.[

I saw the owl lart night diving at my guinea right in front of my husband! Poor little frightened guinea.

I feel your pain. A couple of years ago owls got all my call ducks plus several young chickens and turkeys. Owls are especially bad around February when they are raising their brood. I just gave up raising ducks. I was able to rid myself of the owl problem, but will not post it. I do feel there is a safe and legal way to scare owls away. Try a motion light with the motion detector pointed at a tall pole in the pen. Owls will roost then search for their dinner. They will often light on a post or tree near your chicken house. Provide a roosting pole 12' or so in the air on aim the motion detector toward the pole. The light will scare the owl and affect it's vision since it is in "night" mode.
