Hello from the triangle NC. I have a few barred rocks americanas and black austrolorps. I free range my chickens all day long. Hawk country out here but the little guys are sticking to the woods and heavy brush so no worries yet.

Yes, be careful of those hawks! I can't free range my birds due to all the predators in the skies and lurking in the bushes. Love those Black Australorps! So friendly and docile. Great layers too.

Thanks all i am deep in the woods with a shotgun at the ready to protect the girls. They sure do love the woodland buggies.

Went from 10 hens to 6 learned the hard way to just keep em in the run. I failed to hear two get murdered one by hawk one by fox. Property is to **** big. I was outside building a shed at the time too. 2 also went down from a coon coop invasion. Keeping em in the run from now on.
