great pyreenees are different they are built for work alone and not as house pets where as hunting dogs are also often bred to be family dogs. though I would not count my 4 hunting dogs as pets they are definitely more like a pet then my pyr coopoh whoops sorry!
So, would this be true for any breed? As in a hunting dog should never be a pet and only used for hunting?
Can you get fencingI have a 3-year-old Great Pyrenees named Coop, he guards my flock of about 30 chickens. Until recently, we had no problems with him; he was content to stay close to his flock without any need for fencing. However, our neighbors have started throwing deer carcasses into the woods, which has led Coop to go over to eat them. They also have a yappy dog that Coop got annoyed with and went over to howl at. They have a lab that chases our chickens doing his job Coop chased it off our property. The neighbors have a cat that sometimes wanders onto our property, Coop has chased and bitten at it. they are aware He was raised with hunting dogs that hunted furred animal so as a result he is fur aggressive. They responded that since Coop is calm around our chickens, their cat shouldn't be a problem. After we asked them to contain their cat and dogs, they threatened to report us for owning a dangerous dog. As a result, Coop has to be locked up, and we lost our first chicken to a predator last week since he couldn't be outside to guard them.
Id say that differs i think any dog can be a inside dog.great pyreenees are different they are built for work alone and not as house pets where as hunting dogs are also often bred to be family dogs. though I would not count my 4 hunting dogs as pets they are definitely more like a pet then my pyr coop
