Wow! Thanks everyone.

I'll be taking a look at your pics and deciding how we want to proceed. We are new to chickens but have a huge interest in heritage breeds. We haven't incubated before but I suppose it might be a good time to jump in with both feet!

BTW, one of my SS hens had decided that she is IN LOVE with my DH. He was moving hay bales the other day and she left the flock to follow him around the entire time. Everytime he looked down she was at his feet. I love my girls.

I was shocked at the Ohio nationals to see no speckled large fowl birds entered - there were several bantams - maybe 2 lights in large fowl but that was it! Makes me think i may have to go hatchery to get some large fowl stock!

HI Nancy!
I ended up with two of your 10-month old birds via Cheryl Cohen (indirectly) here in the SF East Bay area of CA. They are beautiful HUGE birds, curious and docile. No fighting with my other 5 hens, just mellow acceptance all around. Here are a few pictures below. Question: what should one be looking for in a quality SS LF bird?
Thanks!
Dawn
