Wow! Thanks so much for sharing! It must be normal for ducks to very occasionally layer a super thick colored bloom on their eggs - even though they normally lay white ish appearing eggs. I feel much better now!
As an interesting note i had given the flock as a group a dose of liquid calcium... could be a factor? There were only the 2 really big eggs and i have 2 pekins and 2 rouens.. i feel confident the green bloom is a Rouen not positive about the other

Oh, that is interesting. I hadn't dosed my duck with calcium until after, but her green egg had a remarkably thick shell. When I found the green egg I found the paper thin shelled egg in the nest at the same time, and I'm not sure if it came right before or after.

I'm not actually sure that Nettle is a dark khaki. She could be a mix. She's about 5 lbs. Here's a photo, she's a bit hard to capture because she's so dark and serious about foraging.

It happened again! The white one is Pigweed's, the green is Nettle's. And I know for sure who layed which egg because Pigweed slept in a crate last night. (She flew into the barn and is recovering from a broken pelvis tip, so she's on crate rest 24/7)

I'm not worried about the green eggs anymore, now I just think they are adorable and interesting. Nettle just had bloodwork and body x-rays a few weeks ago and her vet said she is looking great!

My partner says she's a Dr Suess fan. ;-)
