green cabbage ok purple cabbage bad

Ive given my chickens atleast 6 green cabbages, never with any problems, they like it....WELL....I threw a purple cabbage in the run and it was like I threw a live mongoose in there....Ive never heard so much noise from them....they were flapping around, losing feathers, and huddling in the corner till i took it away......I chopped it up small and gave it back to them....

same comotion, eventually they began to carefully eat it as though it were about to attack......and then it made all thier poop BLUE!

Has anybody else noticed chickens scared of purple things?

My girls always react to strange food as if I were trying to poison them. After a little bit, my brave girl, Roz, will give it a try. If she likes it, the others will eat it, too.
