Green Club

It's the season of purple and gold. Although it is absolutely beautiful - the gold of goldenrod, jewel weed, wild daisies and the purple of bull thistle, wild asters and turning shrubbery is soon to be followed by the season of "SNOW".

Coming sooner to Alaskan than to the rest of us to the South. Possible frost tonight in the mountains of NY and Pa.

Have you knitted little booties for the ducks so as to protect their feet during the rapidly approaching season of SNOW?

Hah! and thupt! Alaskan's awesome Muscovy show no sign of being cold. In fact, they are super comfy at the present temperatures (whatever those might be.....Alaskan is not telling).

Alaskan's one and only turkey has so little brain and such little sense, that it is no wonder that he shivers whenever he is outside. Alaskan wants to kill the turkey now....but all other people in the house want it fresh for thanksgiving......not sure Alaskan can manage waiting that long.

Last winter the Princess bought a large poinsettia for Christmas. It remained beautiful through the winter, and in the spring I repotted it and moved it to the deck. We just measured it in all of it's GREEN glory. Counting the pot it is 52" high, 52" in diameter and 13' in circumference. We have no place for it in our home. Frost is coming. It's gonna die.

Of course not - everyone knows it's tea that's green!

True story - Many years ago, shortly after Critter and I started our landscaping business, we went to lunch at a Chinese restaurant. My meal came with a pot of green tea, so just because it was there, I poured a cup and took a sip. I'd had green tea before, but this time. I paused, swallowed carefully, and sat there obviously trying hard not to laugh myself under the table. Seeing my barely contained hilarity, Critter said, "What?" "Taste that," I said, handing him the cup. He took a sip, and comprehension dawned on his face. He swallowed, and said, "Ryegrass." It tasted exactly like ryegrass smells when you mow it!
