Our English white pair had their first egg today!

I was a little surprised to see a perfectly green egg! It was soft, so she will be getting more oyster shells. I imagine her eggs will look more blue once they have a proper shell, but for now enjoy this bright green egg. I’ve put it next to other green things and my current batch of hatching celadons.

Are you leaving finger print indents in the shell? I had a couple celadon hens that gradually developed thin shelled eggs that would dent with a touch, look eggsactly like that (sorry, can’t help it) but they were daily, if it is a one off don’t worry about it, just a fluke, but if you are getting one daily, might want to up the calcium for your hens.

This is a first lay, so I expect weirdness! It was just such a bright green I had to share 😊 She will be getting some extra oyster shells either way.

Never apologize for puns 😤 They are what the world needs.
