We have Ameraucanas also. Originally, we looked into buying those simply because we were telling our son who is 6 that chickens don't just lay white eggs. We explained that some lay brown, and even green. Well, he wanted chcikens that lay green eggs because that is his fav color!! They are so sweet, he carries them around and spoils them with treats everyday. No eggs yet but it should be any day!!

One of my neighbor''s hens flew over into my yard in the freezing weather. She went on to the other neighbor & he caught her & brought her to me. She was nearly frozen & very thin. I put her in with my 9 ckns & when I told her owner he said to keep her. She started laying about a month ago & the eggs are light green & very large. She is also very friendly & pretty, a mixture of black & brown. She is a small hen. I have no complaints about her.
